Chet the Daytripper Joins This Is Texas Water

Chet Garner, best known as The Daytripper, has spent years exploring Texas’ rivers and lakes, and now he’s teaming up with This Is Texas Water to help Texans take a deeper dive into the water behind the places, food, and experiences they love.

“I want my grandkids and even my great, great, great grandkids to enjoy the same rivers and lakes that I do,” said Chet. “So getting a chance to be part of the This Is Texas Water campaign is a natural fit and feels about as good as jumping into a swimming hole on a hot summer day.”

This summer, follow along as Chet explores the role water plays in some beloved Texas experiences.

Win Lunch With Chet at Rudy’s

This Is Texas Water, Rudy’s Bar-B-Q, and Chet are giving away three Rudy’s gift cards, plus lunch with Chet for the winner and four friends.

While supplies last through the end of July, seven participating Rudy’s locations are also giving away reusable This Is Texas Water cups to everyone who orders a water.

Grab a Slice at Lulu’s Pie Shoppe

On Thursday, August 20, from 5:00–7:00 p.m., Chet will hand out miniature pies at Lulu’s Pie Shoppe in Georgetown.

Because water is part of every recipe, from the crust to the filling, each pie will come with a “pie chart” showing where the shop’s water comes from using the This Is Texas Water zip code lookup tool.

Float the San Marcos River

Chet will take to the San Marcos River with a special guest to explore the springs that keep the river flowing and find out why springs matter to communities across Texas.

Whether he’s cooling off in a spring-fed river or enjoying some barbecue and a slice of pie, Chet’s message is simple: water is part of every great Texas adventure.

“I fell in love with Texas water as a kid and I’ve never outgrown it. All my perfect day trips require a dip in the water somehow,” said Chet.
