About

The Official Water Awareness Campaign for Texas.

This is Texas Water was created to inspire Texans to better understand their water—where it comes from, how much their community will need in the future, and the water infrastructure and planning needed to help ensure our state never sees a day without it.

History

In 2023, the 88th Texas Legislature passed a landmark bill to fund water supply and infrastructure projects, and for the first time in state history, dedicated funding to a statewide water awareness campaign.

The Texas Water Development Board (TWDB), the state agency that leads Texas’ water planning and financing, received those funds and contracted with the Texas Water Foundation (TWF) to bring the campaign to life.

Funding

The campaign is funded through the Texas Water Fund, a statewide investment dedicated to addressing Texas’ water challenges and strengthening long-term water supply.

The TWDB awarded funding of up to $2 million per year, with up to four annual renewals not to exceed $10 million total, to support the development and implementation of the campaign. The campaign launched for the first time in Summer 2026 and is funded for five years total.
